500 Kilometers Away
From so far away, I remember you, I miss you, and yes, sometimes I hate you. I had prepared for this trip with the hope of doing it together, like a shared dream that promised to be magical. In our minds, the images were vivid: laughter under the sun, strolls through vibrant cities, and nights filled with endless conversations. But only a week before the suitcases were packed and the tickets bought, everything fell apart.
I know it hadn’t been long since we met, but the connection I felt was intense. It was one of those connections that makes plans flow easily, where every idea feels like a natural extension of the next. Now, however, all I have are bitter memories that I share with this cold, lonely road. At each destination, a tear appears, and at each stop, a sigh escapes. It’s exhausting pretending on the screens, showing a smile, and proclaiming my bravery for doing it alone. The reality is that behind that facade, there is a deep loneliness.
A thousand kilometers have passed, and I find myself on the other side of the ocean, exploring what should be a paradise, but it is not. The beauty of the landscapes fades when the absence weighs so heavily. I try to enjoy every corner, every sunset, but a constant emptiness accompanies me. I can only overcome this pain. Return home, to my refuge, and count the wonderful cities I’ve visited. I hope that in this process, I can bury in oblivion the absence and emptiness that have followed me during these cruel kilometers.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret it. Every step I take is a declaration that I am still standing, fighting for myself. This journey, although full of obstacles, is part of a bigger lesson. Every failure I face, every fear I fight, reminds me that personal growth is not always easy, but it’s essential. And even though it hurts, I know I can’t let anything stop me, not even this pain, which, in some way, also pushes me to keep moving forward. After all, the most valuable lessons often come wrapped in challenges that shake us to the core.
